Tour Plan

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Draa Valley – Mhamid

Your desert adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. The journey takes you across the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of dramatic valleys, rugged peaks, and traditional Berber villages. We stop at the legendary Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for famous movies such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After exploring its maze-like alleys, we continue through the palm groves of the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest valley. A short stop in Zagora for tea before reaching Mhamid, a small desert village known as the “Gate of the Sahara.” Overnight in Mhamid.

Day 2: Mhamid – Sacred Oasis – Erg Chigaga Sand Dunes

After breakfast, take a short exploration of M’hamid El Ghizlane, a village at the edge of the desert, home to seven ancient kasbahs and scattered palm gardens. Return to your hotel for lunch by the pool before beginning your desert journey. In the afternoon, a 4x4 drive takes you off-road across desert landscapes towards the remote Erg Chigaga dunes, one of the most stunning and untouched dune fields in Morocco. Upon arrival at the nomadic desert camp, experience a camel ride at sunset over golden sand dunes. Dinner will be served under the starry Sahara sky, followed by an overnight stay in a private tent or under the open desert sky.

Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Marrakech

Wake up early to witness a magical Sahara sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. We then drive through the old Paris-Dakar rally route towards Foum Zguid, crossing the dry lake of Iriqui. Lunch is taken in the Berber village of Taznakht, famous for its traditional hand-woven carpets. In the late afternoon, we continue our drive back through the Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech in the evening, where your unforgettable desert tour ends.Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch
